1) Cloud or Desktop — which should I choose?+
Most businesses choose
DARITHMA Cloud: you sign up, log in from any browser on Windows, macOS or Linux,
and we look after the servers and updates. Choose
DARITHMA Desktop if you want your financial data to stay
entirely on your own Windows PC, or you need to work without an internet connection.
Compare Cloud and Desktop side by side.
2) How does pricing work?+
Cloud: a monthly subscription, from €29 a month + VAT. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial,
and your first three monthly payments are 90% off. Then you pay your plan's monthly price — no contract, cancel anytime.
Hosting, backups and every update are included.
Desktop: no longer sold online. It is a one-time licence by personal arrangement, after a demonstration —
price on request.
See pricing and the
subscription terms.
3) Where is my data stored?+
Cloud: on our server with Hetzner in Germany. An encrypted backup is made every night and stored with a
second provider (DigitalOcean), where a standby server in Germany can take over — so your data stays inside the EU.
Desktop: in a database on your own computer. We do not upload, sync or store Desktop data on our servers;
you make your own backups to external drives or other devices you control.
4) Which computers and operating systems can I use?+
Cloud: any computer with an up-to-date web browser — Windows, macOS or Linux. There is nothing to install.
Desktop: Windows 10 or 11.
5) Do I need internet to use DARITHMA?+
Cloud: yes — DARITHMA Cloud runs in your browser, so you need an internet connection to log in and work.
Desktop: only for installation and licence activation.
For everyday use — sales, purchases, expenses and reports — Desktop works completely offline.
6) I’m not an accountant — can I still use DARITHMA?+
Yes. You do not need to know which accounts to debit or credit. You work in plain language (“Record a cash sale”, “Electricity bill from bank account”, “Payment to supplier”).
DARITHMA uses pre-defined accounting logic behind the scenes and posts the correct double-entry automatically (including VAT handling).
7) Can my accountant work with DARITHMA?+
Yes. DARITHMA is designed to support your accountant, not replace them. With Cloud, your accountant can log in
from their own office with a user seat on your plan. With Desktop, they can work directly on your machine
(e.g., during a visit). Either way, you can send exports/reports (Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet, VAT summaries) for year-end work.
8) How many companies can I manage?+
This depends on your edition — the same for Cloud and Desktop. Plans start from one company (Standard and Standard Plus), then three companies
for Professional and Professional Plus, and 25 companies for the Accountant plan. In DARITHMA Cloud you can move to a bigger plan at any time
in Manage Billing; if you need more than 25 companies, talk to us.
9) What happens if my computer fails?+
Cloud: nothing is lost — your books are not stored on your computer. Log in from any other computer and carry on.
Desktop: DARITHMA includes tools to create backups. We recommend creating backups regularly and storing them on an external drive
or another safe location. If your computer fails, install DARITHMA on a new machine and restore your latest backup.
10) Can I move to a new computer?+
Cloud: just log in on the new computer — there is nothing to move.
Desktop: install DARITHMA on the new computer, restore your backups, and transfer/reactivate your licence according to the licensing terms.
If you’re unsure, contact Support and we will guide you.
11) Which countries can I use DARITHMA in?+
DARITHMA is a double-entry accounting system built for the European Union's VAT framework, with Cyprus-specific
taxation and reporting: the ready-made VAT return form and the payroll presets are for Cyprus. In other EU countries
it gives you the VAT figures and summaries your accountant needs, but local return forms, e-invoicing formats and
statutory reports are not included. It is not designed for countries with a different indirect tax, such as the
United States (state and local sales tax). Please confirm with your accountant that it fits your local rules.
See where DARITHMA fits.
12) Can I use the payroll outside Cyprus?+
Yes. The payroll comes pre-configured for Cyprus, with Social Insurance (SI) and GESY, but it is fully parametric.
You can exclude those statutory funds and add your own instead — with the names, rates and caps that apply where you operate.
Please check the set-up with your accountant.
13) Does DARITHMA replace my accountant?+
No. It helps you keep clean, organised books and provides better information. Your accountant remains responsible for year-end adjustments,
financial statements and compliance/tax advice.
14) How do updates work?+
We release updates when they genuinely improve stability, performance, usability, or when VAT/reporting changes require it.
Cloud: every update is included and applied for you on our servers — you always log in to the latest version.
Desktop: a mature, stable edition; new features are developed for DARITHMA Cloud.
15) What are the system requirements?+
Cloud: an up-to-date web browser and an internet connection.
Desktop: Windows 10+; at least 8 GB RAM; sufficient disk space for the app and your data; internet is only required for installation
and licence activation.
16) Do I need a card for the free trial? When am I charged?+
Yes — you verify a payment card when you sign up, but nothing is charged during the 7-day trial. If you keep your
subscription, the first payment is taken when the trial ends (90% off for the first three months), then every month on the same day.
Cancel during the trial and you pay nothing.
17) How do I cancel or change my plan?+
Online, at any time: in DARITHMA open
Subscription & Billing → Manage Billing. A plan change takes effect
immediately and the difference is worked out pro rata. If you cancel after the trial, you keep access until the end of the month
you have paid for. See the
subscription terms.
18) Is VAT added to the prices?+
Yes — prices exclude VAT. VAT is added from your billing address and VAT number: customers in Cyprus pay Cyprus VAT;
businesses in other EU countries with a valid VAT number are invoiced without VAT (reverse charge). Every payment comes
with a VAT invoice, available in Manage Billing.
19) What happens to my data if I stop?+
Your companies are locked, not deleted. The company owner can still sign in and download a full backup, and you can
subscribe again at any time to continue where you left off. If you prefer, ask us to delete your data.
20) Who can sign up for DARITHMA Cloud online?+
Customers with a billing address in the European Union. If you are elsewhere, please contact us. Whether
DARITHMA fits your local rules is covered in question 11.
